intertwined memories

With the sharp tip of a needle piercing through the surface of the paper, forgotten and uncomfortable memories surge forth and are pushed back into the darkness. Underlying memories, whether they are triggered or not, break through our consciousness, and soon, or after a certain amount of time, they return to where they were originally – where they came from.

Those reassembled drawings intertwined with fragments of memories indicate how certain memories are cut out, removed, and overlapped, and then forcibly reconnected, whether they want to or not; and how certain memories are fragmented and diluted as time passes, over generations. Those intangible memories are expressed on paper that is fragile but durable, connected by threads to transform into tangible vestiges. Those cut-out and collaged drawings originated from blind drawings that represent the form of specific memories in the unconscious as remnants of experience. Those fragmented and reassembled drawings illustrate – each diluted, damaged, and transformed – those uncomfortable memories.
